Finding Peace in the Present

I find there to be nothing more calming, more serene, than surrendering to the rise and fall of the ocean as it’s waves crash.

Yoga by the beach is an experience I wish I could give to everyone, especially in these times of extreme anxiety, sadness and loss.

Resting on your mat in child’s pose as the waves foam and fade releases worries of the day and grants you a moment of peace, something that we all need in our day and even if it’s just for a moment, it’s a moment by the sea to give yourself some time back, after life has taken time away. There are always the little extra joys such as the crabs scuttling past or the sand tickling your toes.

I find Yoga to be a very relaxing, gentle form of exercise that brings you back to a time where you could feel your body, and in doing so feel where the muscles are tight and feel the way your mind resists the sensation. Many times, this leads to a lot of emotions during a class as it is overwhelming to be reminded of our human experience, because we are so busy, we tend to forget about ourselves. Please know that it is absolutely okay to feel and breathe as that is a part of the Yoga practice.

I also find that because it is so relaxing and designed for one to go at their own pace, it is suitable for those who are pregnant to integrate movement and relaxation into their creative process, to be more active for baby and mum.

If there is ever a place to release, surrender and embody during your Yoga practice, I highly recommend to do it by the beach.
